[아트코리아방송 = 김한정 기자] 더페이지갤러리에서는 변종곤(b.1948) 작가의 개인전을 오는 12월 22일~2024년 2월 3일까지 개최한다.
1978년 제1회 동아일보 미술대전 대상을 수상하며 주목받던 변종곤은 1981년 돌연 미국 뉴욕으로 이주하며 거칠고 험난한 이민 생활을 겪는 와중 자신만의 고유한 조형 언어를 구축해 왔다. 이번 개인전은 1997년부터 2013년도에 제작된 작품으로 구성되어 격변하는 시기의 뉴욕을 목격한 이민자로서의 작가의 시선을 경험할 수 있으며, 지난 40년이 넘는 시간 동안 쌓아온 작가의 작업 세계를 톺아보는 기회가 될 것이다.
The Page Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition by artist Chong Gon Byun(b. 1948) from December 22, 2023 to February 3, 2024. After winning the Grand Prize at the 1st Dong-A Ilbo Art Exhibition in 1978, Chong Gon Byun suddenly moved to New York City in 1981 and built his unique sculptural language while experiencing the rough and tumble of immigration. This solo exhibition consists of works created between 1997 and 2013, allowing viewers to experience the artist's perspective as an immigrant who witnessed New York during a time of upheaval and provides a glimpse into the artist's work over the past 40 years.
